ReCreateBooks is about unnew, unconventional and unrestrained book creativity. Whether you’re looking to personalise one of my handmade books with your own writing, photos or keepsakes, or want to completely transform an old book, you’re in the right place.

My journey into creative bookmaking began after years of academic focus earning a PhD in Physiology. When life led me in a new direction, I discovered Altered Books and began to experiment and express myself through them. It was a perfect blend of my love for nature, books, vintage finds and upcycling. Through these books I discovered joy in merging ‘mind and materials’ to produce something truly original. Now I’d love to share that joy with you!

Over time, my interest expanded to include Junk Journals and then evolved into the interactive books you’ll find in my Etsy shop. Each one is unique, featuring pockets, journaling cards, photo slots and more – perfect for adding your own personal touch.

LOVE THE PRE-LOVED LOOK

And protect the planet. There is so much possibility in what we already have and what’s already been used. I source my materials from nature and anywhere I can get pre-used items. The list is long but includes the use of pre-loved clothes/haberdashy, vintage handmade placemats, doilies, lace and trims, upcycled tea bags, packaging materials and of course used books. It doesn’t include digital print outs and scrapbook paper unless found in a second hand shop. Add some ink, stitching, vegetable/coffee/tea dyed paper, glue and voilà – an ensemble of elegance, quirkiness and functionality. A textural and visual feast – add a bit of YOU to it!
